Evo 2024
The KI Ultra Tour concluded its run at the #Evo2024 Community Showcase. Evo is one of the best places for passionate communities to show off top level play in their favorite fighting games. Hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the wild Killer Instinct tournament crowned a new champion! At Combo Breaker 2024, SonicDolphin117 used Kim Wu, Kilgore, and Glacius to repeat his 2023 winning run, securing his first Ultra Tour victory. A month later at CEO 2024, LetalisVenator command grabbed his way to his first Ultra Tour win with Aganos and General RAAM. And finally, last weekend at Evo, Daa Chronicle locked down his first Ultra Tour win with deadly mix-ups from ARIA and Shadow Jago. Each tournament was won by a completely different playstyle, showing off the incredible diversity in Killer Instinct’s roster and community.
The Head of KI @DJamesGoddard and Community Manager @Keeman45 were on the Evo show floor chatting with players and fans, while posting live coverage of the event to the Killer Instinct and Iron Galaxy Social channels.

We took a trip down memory lane in the Beyond the Arcade Stick Museum and spotted the Razer – Killer Instinct – Atrox Arcade Stick (2014).
Browsing Evo’s championship history reminded us of past KI Evo champions; CD Jr (2014), Rico Suave (2015), and Sleep (2016). KI competitors have a rich 11-year history in the FGC, and it’s incredible to see how strong they’ve become!
Pool play began Saturday. Big shout outs to @QStyleFGC and the rest of the Evo staff for running the KI brackets! This phase of the tournament eliminated players until only the top 16 remained.
Kicking top 16 off on the Community Stage, household names to the KI community, @BaalsDepe (she/her) and @Trash__Baby (they/them) gave us excellent play by play commentary bringing us all the way to the Top 6.

Closing out top 6, Evo brought out @ZipMasterFlex and @BlackDiamondGMZ. They pumped up the crowd and took us the rest of the way until Daa Chronicle was crowned champion and the finalists were awarded medals.

During the top 6, Twitch chat and Evo viewers witnessed Rash, Sabrewulf, Eagle, ARIA, Gargos, Riptor, Spinal, Glacius, and Fulgore fighting extremely close battles. There were nine unique characters across six competitors. KI’s competitive character variety expands even further if you check out top 16! The KI community consistently shows that any character can win a major tournament.
While this may be the end of the KI Ultra Tour for 2024, more competitive KI is just around the corner! @UltrafineWeekly is frequently hosting online tournaments, @DMC3v3Official is regularly hosting Tag Team focused tournaments, and ranked is always a few clicks away with a populated player base.
